The Technology and Quality team supports innovation, process improvements, quality assurance, and consumer experience through research.
Within Process & Fermentation Technology, two departments develop cost-effective, efficient processes that protect quality and enhance the customer experience.
- The Enology team researches wine fermentation, microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology and process engineering.
- The Applied Technology team focuses on developing and optimizing new and improved processes for winemaking and winery operations.
Consumer and Product Insights delivers consumer, shopper and competitive information that supports marketing, advertising and product development. Our research influences how a product goes to market and helps ensure product consistency.
By providing reliable data analysis, we help other teams in the Winery reach informed solutions for successfully delivering our products to consumers.
Quality Assurance and Quality Control ensures consumers enjoy a positive experience every time they purchase our products. We manage initiatives for package, process and product integrity.
Regulatory Affairs and Compliance helps protect the Winery’s assets and investments by monitoring regulations, anticipating obstacles and proactively seeking solutions to maintain our competitive advantage.
With responsibility for both domestic and international regulatory affairs, we track and analyze activity in all appropriate agencies, organizations and industry groups to ensure compliance with laws, codes and regulations. We also oversee compliance in product composition, labels and promotions and international trade regulations.
Viticulture and Chemistry provides critical research and analytical support to our grape growers and to our winemakers enabling us to grow the best grapes and understand the quality and character of each wine grape variety. This department also works closely with our production and grower relations teams to improve processes and encourage innovation.
