E. & J. Gallo Winery Helps Bring Millions of Meals to Americans in Need

11.21.2014

MODESTO, Calif. (November 21, 2014) -- As the Taste of the NFL celebrates 24 years of helping combat hunger across America, E. & J. Gallo Winery is partnering with the Taste of the NFL to donate more than 8 million meals to the cause this football season. Through its wine-by-the-glass program, Gallo has enlisted more than 20,000 restaurants nationwide to raise funds for Taste of the NFL's hunger relief efforts, helping to bring more than 2 million meals to people in need across the country.

This marks Gallo's twentieth consecutive year as the exclusive wine sponsor for Taste of the NFL's annual fundraising campaign, which culminates in a food and wine tasting extravaganza on the eve of the Super Bowl in Glendale, Arizona. The Taste of the NFL event has become a "must-attend" for those attending the Super Bowl, as renowned chefs from each NFL city create a signature dish that is paired with exclusive wines from Gallo's fine wine portfolio. Guests get the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to mingle with some of football's all-time greats and top chefs during a night of food, wine, football and fun.

"We know there are millions of families who deal with hunger every day, and it is critical that we bring help to those in need," said Gina Gallo, E. & J. Gallo Winery's third-generation winemaker. "Our family and our winery have been deeply committed to combating hunger for two decades, and we are proud to partner with Taste of the NFL on this vital effort once again."

In the months leading up to the star-studded event, Gallo's wine-by-the-glass program, now in its eleventh year, donates proceeds from the sale of select Gallo wines to hunger-related charities. Restaurant patrons across the country who enjoy a glass of wine from Gallo Signature Series, William Hill Estate, Louis M. Martini Winery and MacMurray Estate during September, October and November help contribute much-needed funds to support America's hungry and homeless.

"The Taste of the NFL team is blessed and fortunate to have Gina Gallo and her family as partners in the efforts to assure that more families have food to gather around daily," said Wayne Kostroski, Taste of the NFL Founder. "The Gallo family has always looked to focus on family needs, even before joining forces with us. Fewer companies these days remain truly committed to their core beliefs and cultures. Gallo has, and does. I say 'Cheers to Twenty Years' to this exemplary family and company and I thank them on behalf of the thousands of families that they have provided food and hope."

Since its founding in 1992, Taste of the NFL (also known as "The Party with a Purpose ® ") has become the premier event of Super Bowl weekend, hosting an average of 3,000 guests on the eve of the Big Game. The recipe for success includes outstanding food and wine, personal interaction with NFL superstars, a one-of-a-kind silent auction and live entertainment. This year's event will take place on Saturday, January 31, 2015, at 7:00 P.M. at Westworld of Scottsdale, 16601 North Pima Road, Scottsdale, AZ.

Tickets to Taste of the NFL can be purchased at www.tasteofthenfl.com. Individual tickets to the event are available for $700, and corporate tables with VIP amenities are $9,000 per table.
